A.M. Verbrugge, LL.M. (1964), partly grew up in Belgium. He studied Dutch law in Leiden and has been a lawyer since 1992. For more than five years he conducted his own firm that mainly dealt with Criminal law. Since 2000 he has worked for Pesman Advocaten, first in Amsterdam and then in Haarlem.

Mathijs Verbrugge works in the Insolvency law & Collection procedures section. He is regularly appointed as a receiver by various courts in bankruptcy cases or as manager in suspensions of payment situations or statutory debt-restructuring cases. Furthermore he gives advice to companies and directors in Insolvency law and Company law, and assists them in legal proceedings. He supervises reorganisations and (out-of-court) reconstruction schemes.

In 2002 Mathijs successfully completed the post-graduate specialisation training of Insolvency law at the Grotius Academy. He is a member of the Insolvency law lawyers association INSOLAD.

Mathijs is socially engaged and has been a part of the board of Dutch Society of Industry and Trade, Haarlem-Haarlemmermeer department since 2006.
Mathijs has a good command of the French language.
